At About A Dog, we believe that every roll of toilet paper you buy helps create a better world for animals. We’re proud to support a range of amazing organisations, having helped to raise more than $88,000 to date to aid with rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehousing animals, both locally and nationally.
Based on your votes at the end of September 2025, these organisations will receive donations.
Cherished Pets
Cherished Pets brings hope and support to vulnerable people and their beloved companion animals. Operating in Victoria, they provide affordable veterinary care, community pet programs, and compassionate end-of-life support, ensuring that no pet parent has to face tough times alone. Their unique model not only saves animals but also strengthens the bond between people and their pets—helping seniors, people with disabilities, and those experiencing disadvantage keep their best friends by their side.
Pets of the Homeless
Pets of the Homeless is a compassionate organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable people by ensuring their pets are safe, fed, and cared for during times of crisis. They provide free pet food, veterinary care, and emergency boarding to those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, recognising the deep emotional bond between people and their animals. For many doing it tough, their pet is not just a companion, they’re family, a source of comfort, protection, and unconditional love. By taking care of these pets, Pets of the Homeless helps ease the burden on their owners and ensures they’re never forced to choose between their wellbeing and their best friend. Their work is a lifeline for both pets and people in need.
Southern Koala and Echidna Rescue (SKER)
Southern Koala and Echidna Rescue (SKER) is a South Australian charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured and orphaned native wildlife, with a particular focus on koalas and echidnas. Operating a 24/7 rescue hotline, SKER ensures timely assistance for animals in distress. In 2022, they established a state-of-the-art wildlife rehabilitation centre, complete with a specialised veterinary clinic and purpose-built enclosures designed to minimise stress and promote recovery. Beyond direct animal care, SKER engages in habitat restoration and collaborates with researchers to contribute meaningful data for wildlife conservation. Their mission is to ensure South Australia's native wildlife continues to thrive in the wild through dedicated rescue efforts, advocacy, and scientific research.
Second Chance Animal Rescue
Second Chance Animal Rescue is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and neglected animals in Victoria. With a strong focus on community, they provide not just shelter but also vital veterinary services, training, and education to help animals thrive. Their Pet Food Pantry program ensures that no pet in the community goes hungry, while their adoption programs give countless animals the chance to find their forever homes.
