This FSC Forest Week, we’re shining a light on Australia’s forests and how the everyday products we choose can help protect them.

Official figures suggest Australia’s forest area is increasing.
However, research reported by The Guardian found that forest losses can be balanced against new growth elsewhere.
The problem? New regrowth cannot immediately replace the habitat, biodiversity or carbon storage of an established forest.

- Shift consumption habits: buy second-hand products, reuse or repair old items, or simply look for the FSC logo.
- Go plant-based: reducing meat consumption helps mitigate pressure on the world’s forests and collectively reduces demand for deforestation in service of agriculture.
- A day without driving: if possible, pick a day to venture out by walking, cycling, or taking public transport.
- Connect with nature: silence your phone and spend time outside by visiting forests, planting trees, or tending to a community garden.
